The Michigan Nanny Authority: Kalamazoo is now interviewing for the following position:
An active family in Mattawan is looking to hire a Part-Time Nanny Assistant for 30 hours a week!
The family has three older boys and a full-time Household Manager. They are looking to hire a Nanny Assistant to help with the after-school rush, homework help, overseeing dinner, and doing the bedtime routine. The hours will be Sunday from 6pm to 9pm, Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, and Friday from 3pm to 6pm. The family’s boys are 16, 12, and 10 years old.
The Nanny Assistant’s main responsibility is to oversee the boys from when they arrive home from school until the last boy is in bed. This includes preparing/providing an after-school snack, helping the 10 and 12 year old with homework, facilitating safe and active outside/inside play time, serving and eating dinner with the boys, overseeing nightly showers and bedtime preparations, and settling each boy in bed. The Household Manager, who lives in the home full-time, takes care of all meal preparations, cleaning the home, laundry, and errand running, so the Nanny Assistant will not be responsible for cooking dinner or doing dinner prep or any other typical nanny housekeeping task. Their focus will solely be on interacting with the children.
The ideal Nanny Assistant for this family is friendly and outgoing, active/sporty, and patient. They should have a positive attitude, especially in the midst of after-school energy and chaos. They should have experience working with middle/high-school aged children and be able to earn respect and friendship while still commanding authority with the boys. They will be able to keep easily-distracted boys on task and be able to step in and handle typical sibling disagreements as they come up. The boys love playing outside and learning new sports, so someone who can play with the boys and teach them new games would be ideal. The Nanny Assistant will also excel in working as a team, as they will be working closely with the Household Manager, the oldest boy’s part-time Nanny Assistant who attends school with him, and the parenting team of parents and maternal grandparents.
The family is open to having a male or female Nanny Assistant. Preference will be given to someone who is able to make a long-term (3+ year) commitment, and 1 year commitment is required. Pay will start at $15 per hour, and nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid holidays, and other standard nanny benefits. Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.
The right candidate:
- Will have at least two years of childcare experience as a babysitter, nanny, in a daycare, or in a classroom. Exceptions will be made for a current student or graduate of an education or special needs program.
- Will have his/her own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legal to work in the USA.
- Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
- Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
