A loving family in Kalamazoo is looking for a full-time Nanny for 40 hours a week!
A New-to-Kalamazoo Family is looking to hire a mature, experienced, responsible, and reliable Professional Nanny to provide childcare for their two children, girls who are 3.5 and 1 years of age. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7am to 5pm. The other 10 hours can be worked either on Wednesday or Friday, or split between those two days, depending on Nanny’s preference and availability. Family is guaranteeing Nanny a minimum of 40 hours per week.
The Nanny’s primary responsibility will be to provide loving maternal care and daily structure and learning for the family’s two children. The 3.5 year old attends morning preschool three days a week and Nanny will be responsible for pick-up and drop-off, along with transportation to and from any other activities the girls are enrolled in. She will also plan daily age-appropriate learning activities for both girls, and will be a creative and engaging playmate. Preference will be given to a Nanny with a degree in Early Childhood Education, or experience preparing curriculum and leading classes in a daycare or preschool setting, or experience planning and executing curriculum in past nanny positions.
Nanny will also be responsible for some child-related housekeeping, including: light meal preparation & cleaning up after meals including dishes, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the children’s play areas and bedrooms, keeping main areas of the house tidy during the work day, and helping the parents with children’s laundry.
The ideal Nanny will be an experienced educator and caregiver, confident in her ability to multi-task on busy days, and passionate about her career and investing long-term in a new family. She will be a motivated self-starter who doesn’t need much input or management during the work day. Punctuality, flexibility, and reliability are extremely important qualities for Nanny to embody, as the parents work in the healthcare industry and have very little flexibility themselves. Nanny will be a maternal and loving caregiver with impeccable character, who will take joy in growing her relationships with the children and cherish being their friend, teacher, and role model. The Nanny will make safety a top priority, and be attentive to both children at all times. As part of their daily learning times, Nanny will engage the children in books, songs, activities, games, and crafts, and will ignite a joy for learning and exploring the world around them, both indoors and out. She will also limit use of her personal phone during her work day in order to be attentive to the children when they are awake and active. She will be welcome to make suggestions and give input to the parents, but will be comfortable deferring to parent’s wishes for their children and their daily schedule. Her trustworthiness, experience, and responsibility will be greatly appreciated and the parents look forward to having their Nanny become a part of their family for years to come.
This position requires a long-term commitment to the family, and preference will be given to the candidate who is willing to stay for more than three years. A minimum of 1 year commitment is required. Pay will start at $15-17 per hour plus overtime for every hour over 40 in a week. Other industry-standard benefits including guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid sick time, and paid holidays will be discussed at an in-person interview for those qualified for the position.
The right candidate:
- Will have AT LEAST two years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least two years in a daycare or classroom setting. Experience raising children of one’s own is considered appropriate experience. Sorry, Nanny’s own child(ren) will not be able to come to work with her.
- Will have her own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Must be legal to work in the USA.
- Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
- Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
- Must have flu shot and/or must be willing to get a flu shot annually (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
