A loving family in Kalamazoo is seeking a Full-Time Nanny to start early June 2020!

Professional parents are looking to hire an experienced and reliable Nanny to provide top-notch loving care and consistent learning and development to the family’s 2-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter.  The mother works a 7-day-on/7-day-off schedule from Tuesday to Monday so Nanny’s schedule will rotate between Week 1 and Week 2, indefinitely.  Week 1, Nanny will work Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 6pm for a total of 40 hours, and Week 2, Monday plus two other days agreed upon by Nanny and Family for a total of 30 hours, on a consistent basis.  Overtime will be paid for every hour worked over 40 hours in a week, and Nanny will be given first right of refusal for any additional weekday, night, or weekend hours.  Desired start date is early June and is flexible for the right person.

The Nanny will partner with the parents to care for the emotional, social, developmental, and educational needs of the family’s two toddlers.  She will be a loving, maternal caregiver who is invested in the children’s health, safety, and growth.  She will help with teaching early preschool skills, like letter, shape, color, and number recognition, language development, and will use playtime to encourage sensory exploration and motor skill development.  She will be encouraged to plan play dates, story times, field trips, and other activities outside the home to help with the toddlers’ education and social development.  The family may ask Nanny to run errands and/or do light grocery shopping for them on occasion.  She may also be invited to travel with the family for vacations, but travel is not a requirement and she will be paid her guaranteed hours any time the family takes time off.

The Nanny will also be responsible for light housekeeping, including doing the family’s laundry, tidying and maintaining organization in the children’s rooms and play areas, and doing dishes and other clean up after meals and activities.

The ideal Nanny for this family is mature, honest, and has a positive outlook on life.  She is a professional career Nanny with solid work ethic and a high level of reliability and flexibility, willing and able to accommodate the parent’s unusual work schedule.  She is a maternal and loving caregiver who will naturally become an important part of the family and love the children in her care as if they were her own.  She is also a creative and playful caregiver, who believes in laying an early foundation for learning by engaging the children with books, songs, toys, and exploring the world around them.  She will have a minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience working with toddlers and/or preschool-aged children and excellent references.  Her knowledge and experience will be a valuable resource for the parents, and will give them confidence in her ability to handle anything that comes her way.  She will be comfortable and confident in keeping open lines of communication with the parents.

This position requires a long-term commitment to the family, and preference will be given to a candidate who is able to stay for more than two years.  Pay will start at $15-17 per hour, and nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other standard nanny benefits.  Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.

The right candidate:

  • Will have AT LEAST two years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least two years in a daycare or classroom setting.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and legal to work in the USA.
  • Will have her own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
  • Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
  • Must have flu shot and DTaP vaccine, or be willing to get both before her start date, and must be willing to get a flu shot annually (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
