The Michigan Nanny Authority: Kalamazoo is now interviewing for the following position:
A loving family in Portage is looking to hire a TEMPORARY Part-Time Toddler Nanny for 25 hours a week from April to July!
Family is looking to hire an experienced caregiver/Nanny with experience working with and teaching toddlers, to provide loving care and consistent learning and development to their toddler daughter, who is 18 months old. The family is moving to Portage temporarily for work, from mid-March to mid-July. Nanny will cover the mother’s work schedule, which is a consistent two-week cycle of 25 hours per week. Week 1 will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 7am to 7:30pm. Week 2 will be Monday from 7am to 7:30pm, and the other 12.5 hours can be divided over 2-4 days of the rest of the week, depending on Nanny’s schedule preference. The family guarantees a minimum 25 hours per week, but there may be opportunity for more hours and Nanny will be given first right of refusal. Family would like Nanny to start working by Monday, April 9th, and the job will end when the family moves to Lansing in July (date not yet determined).
Nanny will partner with the parents to care for the developmental and educational needs of the toddler girl. She will have knowledge of and/or experience with various approaches to engaging a toddler in both learning and playtime and will be able to provide a structured daily learning time to help the toddler meet her developmental milestones. Nanny should be engaging and attentive, table to plan gross and fine motor skills activities and sensory activities, and should be fostering a love of and excitement for learning and exploring the world around them from day one.
The nanny’s main responsibility will be to provide care for the toddler, and she will also be responsible for light child-related housekeeping, including: helping with the laundry, washing dishes/running dishwasher, tidying and maintaining organization in the child’s room and play room, and tidying up after herself and the toddler in the common areas (living room, kitchen, etc.) The family would also like their Nanny to feel comfortable doing basic dinner prep on the days she works.
The ideal Nanny for this family is mature, positive, compassionate, trustworthy, and passionate about her job. She will be able to fit seamlessly into the family’s life for the short time they are in Portage, and will honor the time she has with the child by investing fully in her from day one. The family’s success depends on the Nanny’s strong work ethic, so Nanny should be reliable, punctual, and flexible. She will prioritize honest, open communication with the family at all times. Preference will be given to a candidate who has experience teaching a softly structured curriculum for toddlers, either as a mother, a nanny, or as a teacher in a toddler or preschool classroom.
This position requires a TEMPORARY commitment to the family, from April 9th until the family moves to their permanent home in Lansing. Pay will start at $14-15 per hour and is negotiable for a highly qualified candidate. Nanny may be asked to work a holiday if it falls during the mother’s work schedule; as a medical professional, she is not able to take holidays off. Standard nanny benefits are included, such as guaranteed pay, mileage reimbursement, and bonus pay for holidays.
The right candidate:
- Will have AT LEAST two years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least two years in a daycare or classroom setting. Experience raising children of one’s own is considered appropriate experience. However, Nanny’s own child will not be able to go to work with her.
- Will have her own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legal to work in the USA.
- Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
- Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
- Must have flu shot (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
